JEREMIAH: A DRAMA IN NINE  SCENES         by Stefan Zweig                                                  Translated by Eden &  Cedar Paul                      The Viking Press, 1st Pr. of New Edition, 1939  Condition: Very Good+ in Good+ dust jacket

This anti-war drama was first performed during World War I in Switzerland.  After the war, it was produced in German in several European cities.  This  edition was published to mark the drama's first professional production in English in the U.S. by the Theatre Guild.  336 pages, with a new Preface by the author. This copy has modest wear on the cover corners, three of which are somewhat bumped, and modest spine end wear; small writing on the ffep and a small erasure on the back pastedown. Otherwise, the book is in very decent condition, with secure binding and no wear or other markings on the interior and just light toning of pages.  The jacket has some edge chipping and short tears, with some dark staining on the front cover and spine; still, a practically complete dj.  The jacket is decidedly scarce, and this edition itself is pretty uncommon.
