Vintage 1988 Art Of Tahitian Quilting Paradise Patterns Vicki Poggioli Applique Quilt Book

This is a 1988 book called Patterns From Paradise- The Art Of Tahitian Quilting by Vicki Poggioli. Patterns From Paradise is a celebration in pictures and text of the brilliantly colored and patterned quilt designs of French Polynesia and the people who make them. Nearly all Tahitian quilts are appliqued. Common patterns include floral motifs based on such exotic island flowers as the hibiscus and frangipani. Moe complicated patterns depict island scenes, Polynesian dancers and geometric motifs reminiscent of ancient "tapa" designs once used on traditional barkcloth.

15 of the most colorful and imaginative Tahitian patterns are illustrated, described and diagrammed. The techniques used in assembling them are simple and can be easily copied from instructions and pattern pieces.

Tahitian quilts are often presented as cremonial gifts of welcome to honored island guests. Book is in like new condition and contains 130 pages.
