Item description for Vintage Marlin Fish Swordfish Brooch Pin Enamel Rhinestone Ocean Large

This is a stunning and quite large realistic looking Marlin Fish brooch or pin. It is made of a gold tone metal with polished gold plating. The enamel has been painted in a feathered two tone dark green to light green. There are six bands or stripes of inlaid clear rhinestones to give it that sparkle and they are bordered by gold frames. The fish measures approximately 4 ¼ inches long and 2 ¼ inches wide at the widest point from the tail to the bottom fin. It is unsigned and has no markings.

It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. The straight pin has a back and forth wiggle, and enters the roll over clasp at the top rather than the bottom to keep it from coming out of the clasp. I don’t know if the roll over “c” clasp can be tightened or not, it rolls over a bit too easily, but it does close securely when there is material in the brooch. This brooch is a highly detailed piece of wearable art; an artistic creation. It would be the perfect addition to your collection of figural, nautical related or fish jewelry. A truly exceptional brooch that is very substantial in weight and it is sure to be an eye catching conversation starter. It would look great on a scarf, a jacket lapel or even as an accent on a beach bag, tote or purse. It might be too heavy to wear on a dress as it weighs 1 ounce on my postage scale, which converts to 28.34 grams.
