Vintage original 14x36 in. US insert poster from the 1960's pirate adventure drama MORGAN, THE PIRATE, released in the US in 1960 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and co-directed by Andre De Toth and Primo Zeglio. This Italian-produced film stars bodybuilder/muscle-man Steve Reeves as Sir Henry Morgan, a Welshman, who tries to take control of Panama by attacking the mighty Spanish Empire.
The poster features 3 images of bodybuilder-turned-movie star Steve Reeves (which includes a large color photographic shot of a shirtless Reeves in a sword fight with a pirate along a shoreline) as well as the other main cast members. Rolled as originally issued, this vintage original US insert poster is in near-fine condition with four light horizontal semi-folds that are not complete fold lines; a spot of non-professional restoration in the top of the "N" in "MORGAN" (in which a prior owner has gone over a section of that letter with a black marker that had bled through on the verso (see photo) with a 1.5 in. thin vertical area of what looks like white paint above the "N" in the upper background area; small creases of varying sizes in the top 8 inches of the poster; a 1.25 in. long thin vertical line of white paint above the square vignette of Reeves kissing leading lady Valerie Lagrange; two 0.75 diagonal creases on the left border at and above the bottom left corner; and a small smudge in the bottom border. The colors are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
As this insert poster has been stored rolled, it will be shipped in a sturdy tube to prevent damage while in transit.
