Calliandra brevipes (Pink Powderpuff) is an attractive shrub with finely divided leaves and clusters of red powder-puff flowers. It is native to southeastern Brazil, Uruguay, and northern Argentina. Portuguese common names include: Esponja, Esponjinha, Manduruv, Quebra-foice. Botanical synonyms include Acacia selloi Spreng. and Calliandra selloi Macbr. This is an outdoor, tropical, dwarf powder puff that gets small pink and white flowers. This plant can also be trained as a Bonsai tree. It loves water. Beautiful oriental looking plant. It grows more horizontally than vertically. New growth sprouts with a reddish color. It is a fast grower. Small pink and white Powder Puff flowers appear year round on and off. zone 10a, min temp low 30's for a short period of time. Pictures shown for reference only.
