This is a typical Russian lacquer signed box with a three horse sleigh (or troika).  In the sleigh are an older gentleman and a man and woman (or a boy and girl).  Their costumes are iridescent in the tradition of Fedoskino or Palekh.  The box is signed, dated (I believe 1974) and initialed.  The interior is red.  On the rear, it is hand written in gold paint Made In U.S.S.R.  The box is in good condition.  Russian lacquers are very fragile, scratch easily, and are subject to humidity and other atmospheric conditions.  The surface often has crackling, and this box has some beginning signs of this due to its age.  It measures 4 1/4 inches by 3 inches by 1 inch deep.
