These MAY be ceramic, they look like stoneware especially the way the handles are applied. Without lid the sugar bowl is about 2 1/16" tall and the creamer 1 7/8" tall. The lid has a little chip out and if you want it to sit exactly right you have to turn it a bit until it fits nicely. No lid for the creamer. I believe the floral decorations were painted by hand but then the "Souvenir Of New York, N.Y." part was stamped on. This would suggest it might be an import and the person painting the flowers didn't know English, or perhaps could not even write. They have light wear only and do not appear to be used. Hard to say the age, I think they are possibly 1920's but could be earlier or later by a good bit.
Unique pieces, not in the sense that they are the only set ever made but likely the only set you will ever see. I see a lot of souvenir items and I always look for anything interesting that is NYC and I think this pair truly stands out.
