This listing is for a couple of Borden’s Safe Driver Service Award Pins that I came across at a recent Estate Sale. The Silver and Blue pin is a 5 year pin, the Blue and Red one doesn’t say, but it has two stars on the blue banner at the bottom, so I’m assuming it is a 2 Year Pin. The Blue and Red one has Sterling imprinted/stamped on the back. The other one has Robbins Co & Sterling. Neither one is dated, but from research I believe they are prior to 1939 (see below).
Each one is just over ¾” across. Both have a picture of an Eagle on the pin. The Eagle is holding the banner in its beak on one of them. I think you can see clearly in the pictures. In 1939, the image of the original eagle on the Borden’s Eagle Brand Can gave way to "Elsie” the famous dairy cow. These could be from the 1930’s or earlier, but I’m just guessing. They both have some slight marks on the front, which you don’t notice until the pictures are blown up and enlarged or you use a magnifying glass. The backs are tarnished. These would benefit from a good professional cleaning, but I don’t know if that would remove the marks or not.
