This book, subtitled LIFE AND DEATH IN SHAKESPEARE'S LONDON, is based on a study of the previously unpublished records of the Parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate, a microcosm of London.  The registers list deaths and burial dates, supposed causes of death, summaries of coroners' inquests and the like.  They offer a unique glimpse into urban life of the times that will be of particular interest to specialists in public health, European history and medical history.  There are illustrations and tables throughout the  book.  This is a review copy, with the review slip laid in and the reviewer, C.R. Mayes (a contributor to the English Historical Review) has signed and dated the book on the ffep.  The jacket has tears on the front cover/spine and some other modest wear.  The book is near new.  UNCOMMON.
