This is a lovely brass or bronze medallion in an Art Nouveau style. I will state right off that I don’t know if this is an original or a replica, I am selling it as if it is a replica. The metal has some type of clear coating that gives it a beautiful shine. The image was designed by Charles Phillipe Germain Aristide Pillet (1869-1960). He was born in Paris and was a French engraver, medal maker and sculptor. He helped to revive the “art medal” and was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome in 1890. The brooch is a profile or portrait head of a lovely woman or maiden holding a bouquet of flowers with a flower garland in her hair. On the side is the word “Fiore”, which translates to flower or bloom. It is signed just below the word “Fiore” on the front, although it is very hard to see or to read, the signature is very faint (see arrow in photo).  It measures approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter.

It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There are a few tiny oxidation spots on the metal, but it doesn’t affect the beauty of the piece and you don’t see them without magnification. I have not polished this as I did not want to affect the finish or the patina. I will leave any polishing up to you. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This would be a great addition to your collection of Art Nouveau style designed jewelry. It is a lovely piece of wearable art to add to your wardrobe.
