This large oval locket has a rose gold filled front and back with diamond etched ornamental design that almost forms an oval egg shape.  The locket is quite thick ( 1/3") and measures 1 1/2" x 1".  It hangs from a newer 18" gold filled chain that has triple links. The locket is so fabulous and detailed.This would be such a wonderful heirloom to pass onto to your family because it already has well over 120 years of history. The nice thing about this is that the watch holder rotates so you can wear either side of the locket facing forward. The hinge and clasp work great and are nice and tight. One side of the locket has a tiny nub center piece that looks like a bezel pearl might have been attached at one time.. It looks like part of the design now.
