Vintage original 11x14 in. U.S. title lobby card, good+ condition.

The silent film costume drama ASHES OF VENGEANCE was distributed by First National Pictures in 1923 and stars the popular dramatic actress Norma Talmadge. The design of this desirable title lobby card perfectly evokes the feeling of the period that the film is set in, as it is "A Drama of the Olden Days" as indicated in the bottom right corner of the image. The image features a long shot of Norma Talmadge, as Yolande de Breux, as she holds out her hand to handsome Rupert de Vrieac (Conway Tearle) as he kneels before her. This scene is complimented by the outline of an oval frame with a royal crown at the top. To the right is an illustrated fight scene with the French Huguenots. The names of producer Joseph M. Schenck and Miss Talmadge are depicted within a period flag at the top and the image of Conway Tearle protruding from outside of the oval frame adds a visual sense of depth.

This lobby card is unrestored in good+ condition only with an irregular 9 in. long horizontal crease in the top border (which does not affect the artwork) which starts at the left edge and extends diagonally upwards to the top border. There is a 2.25 and 1 in. horizontal crease in the upper background area above the word "Norma" in the credits. This card was framed by a previous owner and the mat inside the frame has created a tan shadow around the outer edges of the card.

Norma Talmadge was one of the greatest stars of the entire Silent Era and was a hugely popular dramatic actress. Ashes of Vengeance was her fourth pairing with director Frank Lloyd.
