**Wild West Organics Heirloom Organic Tabasco Pepper Seeds**
The name 'Tabasco' possibly originates from the Mexican city-state of Tabasco.
The story goes that tabasco peppers were introduced to the world and made famous by the McIlhenny family of New Iberia, Louisiana. The seeds from their tabasco pepper pods were originally planted on Avery Island, Louisiana.
Their highly visible and internationally known pepper sauce is made from the extract of tabasco peppers (capsicum frutescens). Today, tabasco peppers are grown under contract by farmers in Central and South America in order to satisfy the demand for their vinegary hot sauce.
Wild West Organics heirloom organic tabasco pepper seeds were selected from carefully nurtured and organically grown tabasco chile pepper plants. I hand harvested them from my sunny Arizona garden plot. The average annual temperature is 70.9 F.
These seeds produce erect bright red slender fruits 1 to 1.5 inches long.
The beautiful tabasco pepper plants are shrub-like and can grow up to 5 feet (60 inches) in height with favorable growing conditions. They are very prolific producers when planted in sunny locations.
The tabasco peppers appear pale green to yellow at first, then turn orange, and finally maturing to bright juicy red hot peppers!
