Here for your perusal is a RARE, Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up 'N Peek #509 Children Around the World Wood Puzzle. Manufactured in Holland between 1971-72, this puzzle is exceedingly difficult to find and in this condition (VG++). Crafted of heavy duty wood and Masonite layers, this puzzle belies Fisher Price's reputation of high quality, durable, inter-generational toys.

The puzzle consists of 8 single pieces and is designed for 2-5 year old children. Each piece is equipped with a yellow peg to facilitate the easy removal and replacement of the different puzzle pieces into their respective places. Underneath each puzzle piece lies a corresponding litho depicting elements associated with that character's home environment. Each litho also features a printed word identifying the cultural heritage of each character. Pairing the litho picture with the printed word encourages a child's understanding that print conveys meaning (e.g. a principle of emergent literacy). All of the characters display vibrant colors and captivating poses. I would rate this puzzle as being in VG++ condition. The only "flaws" I can detect are:

1. Some scattered "dings" and indentations on the puzzle surface;

2. Some Scotch tape residue alongside a couple of the pieces; the individual who sold this puzzle to me taped each piece in place prior to shipping it to me. I'm confident I'll be able to remove this residue during the cleaning process;

3. Some miniscule edge wear and paint loss on a few of the pieces;

4. Some pronounced "feathering" on the back wooden edges of all of the puzzle pieces;

5. A few pin-head sized rubs on a couple of the interior lithos, most notably on the American Indian litho; and

6. Some scuffs, scratches, edge wear, and subtle marks on the reverse side of the puzzle.

The puzzle is stamped: "Made in Holland for Fisher Price Toys, copyright 1971, 1972, The Quaker Oats Company.

I realize my description sounds horrific but I'm being super "nit-picky" here. Many sellers would not even bother to address most of the above "imperfections" in their descriptions. However, I don't want any of my customers to be disappointed with their purchases from me.

This puzzle is heavy (1 lb. 4 ozs.) UNWRAPPED. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905). I will be shipping it swathed in bubble wrap with cardboard inserts either in a padded envelope or inside a protective box.

I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. I’ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account.

In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item.

Although Bonanza's shipping calculator does now offer Fed Ex as a shipping option, the calculator quotes are for Fed Ex Ground which I can only use if I'm shipping to a business.  Most of the time, I need to ship Fed Ex Home Delivery so the item(s) may be delivered to your home.you.

Packages traveling to Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required.

I’m more than willing to combine multiple purchases into one box whenever it is safe to do so to decrease your shipping costs. Once again, PLEASE combine all of your purchases on one INVOICE; otherwise, I get charged multiple transaction fees by PayPal plus you get over-charged on your shipping. Of course, I will refund you any amount over $1.00 that you've overpaid on shipping. However, it's easier on both of us if you wait until I can send you the correct amount.

I will attempt to find the cheapest shipping rate possible. NOTE:  USPS shipping rates to Canada are going up effective May 31, 2015.  Canadian shipping quotes are being determined by whichever region you reside.  Those living closer to Indiana (47905) rates may be the same or slightly lower.  Those provinces farthest away from Indiana (e.g. British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Alberta etc.) my see substantial increases in their shipping rates.  Canadian customers will be responsible for any brokerage fees, Custom’s duties, or VAT’s imposed by your government. I am not responsible for these charges. Insurance is required for all international shipments.

Last, but not least, I offer a 10% discount for orders totaling $125.00 or more.
