An interesting fact about sand dollars is that they are once actually living creatures. When they are alive they are purple, green, blue, or violet and live in the seabeds. When they die, the skeletons wash ashore and are bleached white by the sun. What we find on the beach are the empty skeletons of those creatures. *This sand dollar charm is not a real sand dollar; it is a silver plated metal charm.
