Before the electronic age, when you bought gasoline on credit, the attendant would run your credit card through a machine, put in a little data and run out to your car for you to sign a multi part form. The multi part form would be on this little device and after you signed he would give you a copy and put the other copy into the slot on the underside of this piece. This one is not marked with a gasoline or oil company's name so is considered generic. That makes it not an advertising piece, but if you have a little mini garage with other gasoline station collectibles this could be the piece you are missing. Or if you have a flea market booth and doing non electronic credit sales this is a cute little piece that permits your customer to have a sturdy surface to sign on. Certainly a conversation piece.
