Rare near Mint Condition copy of the The Los Angeles Times Magazine Nov 7 1999 Special Millennium Issue Hollywood California
100 Years of Wizardry. Hollywood at the Close of the Century.
This newsprint type full color Magazine was an insert in the Los Angeles Times Sunday Newspaper, with 46 over-sized pages it measures 9-1/2 x 11-1/2"
The cover would look wonderful framed for any collector of the two films featured.
Published 47 times a year, by the LA Times, Times Mirror Square.
Many historically significant articles and (now) vintage advertisements.
This Millennium Edition magazine is a wonderful historical reference of just how far the Movie Industry has or has not evolved in the past 18 years.
Including: a full two-page full color vintage advertisement for:
Salvadiore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani ...
... and a full page ad featuring a rather large and clunky looking cell phone with a rubber antenna sticking out of the top, advertising a wonderfully technologically advanced "cell phone "Navigator Kit" for your car, to make your cell phone hands free in seconds" (good for a laugh).
Featured articles include interviews with Shane Black, Ray Stark and Peter Bogdanovich-who have gloried success, lived through the Hollywood meat grinder and are still standing.
Other notable articles include:
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL - The Shadow Force
HARD TIMES - Down and Out in Dreamland
Pater Familias - The Mogul (New Line Cinema)
My personal favorite: "And They Said It Wouldn't Last - a Century of Technical and Creative Innovation - A Timeline of notable history making turning points in Hollywood and the Motion Picture Industry."
ONCE THEY WERE KINGS - Essays From Exile
THE BOTTOM LINE - Cheap Tricks for the 21st Cen
FASHION - Hollywood Haute featuring Full page full color photographs and interviews with actor/medals: Clea DuVall (Girl Interrupted), Marissa Ribisi (Grown-Ups), Hill Harper (City of Angels), David Krumboltz (Liberty Heights - but best known for his portray;l of a 200 year old elf in The Santa Claus with Tim Allen),
Christian Campbell, (The Piano Man's Daughter), Marley Shelton ( The Bachelor - the Movie, not the reality series)
... and an invitation to "Take a walk into the digital future, a place where no special effect is out of reach, where actors might be obsolete and where anyone with a few thousand bucks can make a movie and send, it streaming over the Internet."
