This is a remarkable and unique vintage Taxco Mexico sterling silver cross pendant with spiritual enamel inlay symbols depicting stars, a crescent moon, eyes, and a bird. This cross was crafted in two sterling silver pieces, a front and back with carved carnelian color shell that is sandwiched in between, and sterling silver front and back as well as sterling stationary and movable bails. It is hallmarked on the backside "TAXCO MEXICO 925 AR" and is stamped with a maker's (artist's) symbol. It measures approx. 2 inches high by 1 1/4 inches wide and weighs 5.9 grams. It is in excellent condition and is pictured next to a US dime for size comparison. Circa 1970s.
