• Activation is achieved by pressing your Ford Smart-Key's lock button three times within 4 seconds: So, the distance that you will be able to activate the remote starter will be the same distance that you can lock and unlock the vehicle now.

• This system is equipped with the same safety and operating restrictions as Ford's OEM remote starter: The system will detect any current or stored fault codes and will prevent the remote starter from activating. If the hood is open, the transmission is not in park, the vehicle's battery voltage is too low, the check engine light is on, or any stored DTC codes (no visual lights on the dash) will prevent the system from activating (you can also consult your vehicle's owners/operators manual).
  
  
• Entrance protection and safety: In addition, on most Ford vehicle's, depending on how the OEM ECM was configured, it will only allow key takeover to be performed within an allotted amount of time after entering the vehicle.
