The Methley Plum Tree (Prunus salicina) is a vigorous, self-pollinating plum tree that will provide plenty of plums to last all season long. Plant in full sun, in non-alkaline, sandy loam soils with good drainage. Rainfall and/or high humidity during the growing season can reduce production by accentuating diseases and cause fruit cracking.
Prune only to remove deadwood, crossing branches, or fast growing shoot that appear along the trunk or branches. Over-pruning can stunt fruit production.
