The Glorious Sound of Christmas features The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy combined with the Temple University Concert Choir directed by Robert Page. This album is unique, no other major symphony orchestra has ever recorded this type of Christmas program before. The success of the album depends on the blending of many elements. The music was chosen from favorite carols and hymns, and a few less familiar but very expressive songs were also included. The arrangements by Arthur Harris are exciting yet dignified, appealing and in the best of taste. They take full advantage of the most modern recording techniques as well.
