Indian Thornapple Moon Flower White Trumpet Flower Fragrant Sacred Shaman Sacred Datura Devil's Trumpet Exotic
Plant is an annual 60-90 cm high with a spreading crown about 2 m in diameter. The stems and leaves are covered with short and soft greyish hairs that give the whole plant a greyish, downy appearance. Plant bears white tubular (trumpet) flowers that have green veins, 12-19 cm long, stigma well above anthers. Some people find the flowers fragrant at night, when the plant is blooming. Application: for growing in pots, containers, on terraces or in groups, on high beds.
Dark green leaves (to 8” long) have a downy texture. Single upward-facing trumpets (to 7” long and 4” wide at the mouth) have a sweetly overpowering fragrance. Flowers last one night. Each flower will unravel in the evening to reveal a fragrant trumpet-shaped bloom that only lasts until noon the following day. Flowers will bloom intermittently from mid-summer to frost. Flowers are followed by downy spherical fruit covered with stiff spines, hence the sometimes used common name of downy thorn apple for this plant. Plants belong to the nightshade family and all parts are extremely toxic.
