An outstanding pair of large, heavy, cast iron sconces from the late 1800s. Each sconce weighs nearly 48 pounds. Style is Gothic. The sconces are from an old department store in Maine, and are almost impossible to find especially in a pair.
The finish is in good condition, with some wear and a few scratches, but overall is intact and handsome. One spike/tine on top of one lantern was broken off, shown in photo, during Hurricane Helene in Asheville.
The eight side windows have caramel glass. The bottom trap door, which access the bulb via brass hinges. Bottom glass is frosted white. The wiring is new and includes a ground wire. The sockets are porcelain, damp location rated.
