Comical goings on at an exclusive golf club. All the members are wealthy and eccentric, and all the staff are poor and slightly less eccentric. The main character is `Danny`; he`s a caddy who will do almost anything to raise money to go to college. There are many subplots, including the assistant green keeper`s pursuit of a cute (obviously stuffed) gopher. Greenskeeper Carl Spackler is about to start World War III – against a gopher. Pompous Judge Smalls plays to win but his nubile niece Lacey Underall wants to score her own way. Playboy Ty Webb shoots perfect golf by becoming the ball. And country club loudmouth Al Czervik just doubled a $20,000 bet on a 10-foot putt. Insanity? No. Caddyshack. Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray and Ted Knight tee off for a side-splitting round of fairway foolishness that does for golf what National Lampoon’s Animal House did for fraternities and Police Academy did for law enforcement. With Harold Ramis (National Lampoon’s Vacation, Analyze This) directing, the virtuoso skills of all four blend into a riotous hole-in-one for comedy fans.
Chevy Chase was born Cornelius Crane Chase in Lower Manhattan, New York. He scored in the '80s with hits such as Caddyshack (1980), the National Lampoon movies and the Fletch movies. Rodney Dangerfield was born in Deer Park, New York, in 1921. He made highly-publicized appearances on The Simpsons (1989), In Living Color (1990), Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist (1995), Home Improvement (1991) and Suddenly Susan (1996) after his role in Caddyshack. Bill Murray was born in Wilmette, Illinois, to Lucille (Collins), a mailroom clerk, and Edward Joseph Murray II, a lumber salesman. He is known his roles in '80s comedies such as Ghostbusters (1984) and the hilarious golf movie Caddyshack (1980).
