From Beverly Hills Plush, this is a "Pope John Paul II" white beanbag limited edition bear from 1999, honoring the Pope who died in 2005.  This bear is number 05739 of 10,000. 

The Pope JP II bear is almost 9 inches tall and weighs 5.8 ounces.  He has the words "John Paul II" embroidered in black thread on his chest and an embroidered gold-colored cross.   On his back in black embroidery is the name "John Paul II" and a stitched-on patch with the papal shield.    

This bear was made by hand in China (year not specified) of all new material (polyester fiber and PVC pellets).  He is surface wash-able.
