I believe the original images were  part of the noted Lancastrian H. Clifton Thorbahn collection. I think J. Fridy produced these from those originals as noted on the back. I would say produced between 1960's and the 1980's.

The life of H. Clifton Thorbahn (1891-1983) 


• Son of Carl Thorbahn - Fulton Theatre Orchestra leader and Lancaster High Schools’ Professor of Instrumental Music

• 1909 – Graduates from Lancaster Boys High School.

• 1910 – 1913 - Pianist at Lancaster silent movie theaters

• 1917 – Graduates from Franklin & Marshall

• 1919-1923 – Leader of early Lancaster Jazz bands, primarily his “Serenaders of Lancaster Pa”. Regular appearances at Rocky Springs & Maple Grove Parks, 2-year tour of Southern states. Plays at Warren G. Harding’s Inaugural Ball in    1921.

• 1921-22 – Assistant Principal at Salisbury High School

• 1922-23 – Principal of Strasburg High School

• 1923-26 – Manages a number of local jazz groups

• 1925-35 – Author of weekly local history features for the Lancaster Sunday News

• 1926 – Co-author of the Lancaster “Pageant of Liberty”

• 1932-35 – Actor/writer/producer/director of numerous WGAL radio programs

• 1936-? Owner/Editor of “The Lancaster Guide” – the first such local entertainment weekly

• 1950s – involvement with Conestoga Valley Association (CVA), Union Fire Co. No. 1

• 1950s & 1960s – Lancaster tourism pioneer & promoter through tour operators and business groups

• 1950-1969 – Co-owner, editor, and history contributor to “The Lancaster Magazine”


In addition to musical talents, Thorbahn began working in publishing, creating the first tourist guide for the Lancaster County, and writing history features for Lancaster Sunday News. Thorbahn was involved with a number of area historical societies. "He had his fingers in anything that was history."


By the end of the 1960s, Thorbahn was ready to retire, and he died in 1983.
