Dominick & Half were some of the top craftsmen in silver items during the most sought after period in time for silversmiths. Compared in quality to Gorham, Tiffany and other high end silversmiths, D&H manufactured exquisite fine silver items ( like this candlestick) until the company was bought by Reed & Barton in 1928.
This is a pattern we have been unable to find and the number on the bottom (823) is the only bit of information we have to go on.
We go back and forth as to whether this candlestick is actually weighted. The only way to know is to rip it open and we are not going to do that. It’s simply too nice - and with a very well known pedigree. No personalization or initials etched in badge. Quite rare for a piece such as this.
Candlestick is in excellent shape. It includes a top piece for a candle to sit in which is unmarked but may well have been part of the candlestick as it sits perfectly on the top.
Stands 9.5 inches tall. Craftsmanship is just spectacular.
