Estate Find--Collector of Art: by acclaimed Alaskan artist Rie Munoz (1921-2015), this cheerful 2004 12” x 9.75” limited edition lithograph print by is entitled “Fish Creek”. It’s numbered 103/650 and is signed in pencil by the artist.
This ‘street’ runs and winds for about a block along side a Ketchikan creek. It’s not a regular street; it’s a boardwalk on tall pilings as are the many wooden buildings that are along the walk. The US postal address is Creek Street but when the spawning season starts and the creek is filled with salmon going upstream, I call it ‘Fish Creek’.
Rie Munoz (1921-2015) was a beloved Alaskan artist and is famous for her vibrant, unpretentious watercolors of scenes of daily Alaskan life. Born in California, she later lived first in the Netherlands and then in Virginia before moving to Southeast Alaska in 1951
