• When race car owner Harry Schmidt first brought the Blue Max Funny Car into the world back in 1970, little did he know it would eventually become one of the most famous cars in drag racing history. With top drivers like Jake Johnston, Richard Thorpe and Raymond Beadle, the Blue Max, in the many variations remained a top contender into the late 1980s. One of the most popular versions of the car had a monstrous Chrysler hemi-head engine housed in a ‘72 Ford Mustang body and consistently ran in the 200 to 210 MPH bracket.
