Here is a RARE, Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up 'N Peek #2721 Hats Puzzle for your perusal. This puzzle consists of 5 single pieces, each of which is equipped with a yellow peg to help little fingers easily remove the pieces from the puzzle. The puzzle was designed for 1-3 year old children which makes it ideal as a first puzzle with young children. What child doesn't like trying on different hats and taking them off? Manufactured between 1985-88, this puzzle was designed by one of Fisher Price's most celebrated illustrators, Michael J. Smollin. The detail on this puzzle is CAPTIVATING! All of the pieces, when removed, has an underlying litho depicting the individual likely to be wearing such a hat and the kinds of activities this person might be engage in at their job. Pictured individuals shown on the outside of the puzzle likewise provide clues as to the identity of the person wearing the adjacent hat. This is a FABULOUS puzzle to reinforce beginning language concepts: (e.g. prepositions such as on/off, in/out, up/down; action words such as "blowing, stopping, spraying, burning, pulling, throwing, crawling, laughing, riding, sitting, sliding;" Wh-questions such as "Who is wearing the cowboy hat? or "Where is Santa?"; personal and possessive pronouns such as mine/yours, he/she, his/her, possessive 's such as "That's the fireman's hat" etc.. The difficulty level of this puzzle coincides perfectly with a 2 year old's emerging opinion that everything is "MINE." What a great way to highlight these language-based concepts as well as other assorted vocabulary. In my opinion, this puzzle warrants a NEAR MINT rating.
After repeatedly inspecting this puzzle, the only "flaws" I can spot are:
1. A small, nearly invisible rub to the chef's chin;
2. One, pin-head size "ding" on the left hand edge of the front of the puzzle; and
3. Some minor elevation of the attached wooden pieces adjacent to Santa's hat; I plan on remedying this by using Rubber Cement and applying weight on the offending pieces; I've done this before on one of my personal Fisher Price Peek Up 'N Peek Puzzles (the RARE Castle puzzle) and it worked great!
That's it! All of the interior lithos are generally in NEAR MINT-MINT condition. I've taken close up pictures of these "imperfections" but I doubt that they even show on my pictures---they're that insignificant. Although you can't see it in my photos, the imprint on the back of the puzzle indicates it was produced in Holland. Believe it or not, but I've actually seen some of these puzzles that came out of the factory uncut and someone later framed them and hung them on a child's wall for decoration. The colors are that bright---they're EXQUISITE!

I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. I’ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account.
In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item. PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO MANUALLY CHECK THESE RATES AND INSERT THEM INTO YOUR INVOICE. Otherwise, the shipping calculator may overcharge you.
Packages traveling to Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required.
