Edwardian Summer Tea Lawn Dress Off-White Pink Green Floral Embroidery Ruffles
Edwardian summer tea dress or lawn dress. Off-white w/ pink & green floral embroidery. 3/4 sleeves. Ruffled underskirt. Detachable collar.
I am selling this for a museum in Tombstone, AZ that has recently closed. As this is a former museum piece, there may be repairs / modifications to the garment, as well as fading, discoloration, flaws, damage, etc. I've tried to note the bigger issues below.
Off-white fabric, with what appears to be machine-embroidered pale pink flowers with 3-toned green leaves. The fabric is thin, with a "tank"-style underlining bodice. I think this underbodice is a modern-day replacement of the original top half of the underdress.
There is sheer lacing at the front, below the neckline.
The collar area has 2 wire coils on each side of the neck to help the collar stand up. This is probably and addition by the museum, to aid in display.
3/4 length net sleeves, with six tiered rows of tucks. There is a short-sleeve overlay from the bodice, with the floral embroidery at the "sleeve" edge.
The side seams each have a 7" long vertical piece of boning.
The center back has a 15" modern zipper sewn into the underbodice. The top fabric also has 8 hook & eye closures down the center back. Some of these pieces are missing.
There is an underskirt, which feels like silk and appears to be original. The bottom of the hem is ruffled.
There is stitching along the waist that can be seen. I think this dress was cut in half in order to repair the bodice area before display, then the two pieces stitched back together. Again, the underbodice is modern fabric & stitching with a zipper. The bottom skirt portion seems to be original.
There are several holes & repairs in the fabric.
The neck has a separate decorative collar piece that ties in the back. It has 6 rows of pale pink ribbon and lace trim at the top & bottom. There is also a small flower at the top, center neck.
Approximate measurements:
Underarm to underarm, across the front, laid flat = 18"
So, bust = 36"
Length down the back center, bottom of collar to bottom hem = 60"
Shoulder seam to end of sleeve = 18"
Underarm seam to end of sleeve = 11"
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam, across the back, laid flat = 15"
Side to side, across the waist, laid flat = 13.5"
So, waist = 27"
Pre-owned, antique. As this is a former museum piece, there may be repairs / modifications to the garment, as well as fading, discoloration, flaws, damage, etc.
