With only 1,000 produced, this highly collectible limited edition print features two former Toronto Maple Leafs star defencemen, Tim Horton #7 and Borje Salming #21. The photo of Salming is autographed by the trailblazing Swede. The lithograph of Horton is an enlargement of the 2014 Original Six? stamp, part of a series commemorating great Canadian defencemen from hockey?s golden era. A great gift for Leafs fans and home decor accessory for your family room or entertainment room.
Born in Cochrane, Ontario, Tim Horton was scouted by the Leafs as a teen and took to the ice with the team in 1948. Paired on defence with Allan Stanley, Horton built a strong, offense-minded blueline that carried the Leafs to 4 Stanley Cup® championships in the 1960s. Horton started his namesake donut chain in 1964 but continued to play in the NHL until his tragic death in a car accident in 1974.
One of the first Europeans to play in the NHL, Swedish-born Borje Salming played 16 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs beginning in 1973. During his 17-year career, he was widely regarded as one of the best two-way defencemen in the league, and still holds the record for the most career points and most career goals by a defenceman for the Leafs.
