Antique French gilt bronze clock. Depicts two cupids with doves. The clock and candlesticks are adorned with beautiful green jade malachite. The candlesticks have the option of using ten candles. . A masterpiece of exquisite craftsmanship in every way, this beautiful work of art is a complex and magnificent clock in every way. The clock was cast by the important and esteemed bronzier Henri Picard, active in Paris from around 1839 to 1884. His company supplied many interior objects to Emperor Napoleon III and an important pair of candlesticks is in the collection of the Louvre Museum. His work is always characterized by exceptional quality. Original watch with white enamel dial, signed Bourdin in Paris, with Roman and Arabic numerals, gilt bronze hands. The clock has a date display, a separate seconds dial and a moon phase dial. Bell percussion every half hour. 8-day anchor movement with rope pendulum. Key and shuttle included. AE Bourdin is registered rue de la Paix between 1840 and 1870. Bourdin is mentioned as a manufacturer of very high quality timepieces. He exhibited at the Paris Exhibitions and won a bronze medal in 1844, a silver medal in 1855 and a bronze medal in 1867.
