CAMOMILE
We are proud to welcome you to GREEN GROVE GARDEN. We were active plant propagators and Nursery owners for a number of years specializing in the production of plant plugs and seedlings for our on farm use. We have learned a great deal about seedling production, proper storage, handling and identification of quality seeds to be able to offer you the finest and freshest seeds available. Here is another of our prized offerings:

* Our Non-GMO German Chamomile is a  very popular heirloom.

 * Chamomile has been used for centuries to treat a number of disorders.

* Chamomile is extremely undemanding  herb to grow, and it will tolerate a variety of soil conditions.

* This daisy like open-pollinated variety grows taller and is sweeter than our other offering roman chamomile, which is most popular as a ground cover.

* This annual plant is the most common species used for the herbal remedy chamomile.  It has a very high volatile oil content and, if prepared correctly, can be used to treat a variety of ailments including irritable bowel syndrome, and sore stomachs.

* Chamomile is a fantastic herb to grow yourself because it is commonly produced incorrectly.  Thus, most store bought chamomile preparations will be very ineffective in treatments.

* In recent medical literature from 2006, there were many promising results from medical testing of chamomile, and its efficacy in being antispasmodic, anti-mutagenic, and anti-inflammatory.  These medical tests are ongoing and likely to show further health benefits of consuming chamomile.  Always consult a Physician before consuming herbs for medicinal and herbal remedies.

* If chamomile is proven to be antimutagenic, as some tests have suggested, this could be a great herb for those who have high cancer risks lifestyles like smokers, excessive drinkers etc...

* Chamomile doesn't require a lot of fertilizer like many other plants.  In fact, a light side dressing of compost can usually provide all the nutrients that chamomile needs to thrive.

* The plants beautiful daisy like flowers are responsible for the healing properties of the plant.  The petals yield the volatile oils and flavonoids which are linked to healthful benefits.

*  The beautiful flowers, which I find even more attractive than daisies, bloom profusely through the growing season and attract a lot of pollinator species like bees, butterflies etc...

* A lot of beneficial, predatory insects are attracted to the beautiful chamomile blooms!  These predatory insects will help protect your garden from the evil insects like aphids and mites.
