One of the great things about having all the materials for an item like this: Japanese electronics stores used to stamp and date purchase on the box or manual for warranty use. So I can tell you without a doubt that this Limited Edition GBA was sold at the Ito Yokado store in Hakodate, Japan, on November 10, 2002. (Just down the street from the Book-Off where I bought it, incidentally.) And the manual has a serial number that matches the console. How’s that for provenance?

The system itself is good overall. No major scratches to the screen. Minor wear to the paint on the back, especially at the edges. Some wear to the

Pokémon logo above the A button. The box has a very small tear on the lower right of the front side: see photos for details.

Please note that this particular GBA edition is in HIGH demand as as such there are many FAKES . China makes cheap replacement shells which some people are swapping and selling as legitimate. The fakes do NOT come with an original box or manual!!

Also of curiosity is the blue insert paper that comes with it, with Mario and Luigi art. It translates as:

"A Request about Repair of Specially-Made Limited Edition GBA Systems:

Because this is a specially-made limited edition product, in the event of a repair, we will use regular mass-market parts.

For details, please contact our customer service center. (Details in the manual.)"

The implication here is that if you were to send this limited edition to Nintendo for repair back in the day, you may not receive matching parts in return. Interesting!
