These were bought direct from Homer Laughlin Company prior to the sale of the restaurant division. They are hand-picked seconds: never used. There will be a flaw: a sand-bump, a glaze skip, a pin pop. Quite often they are on the underside of the dish. HLC has undergone some serious changes over the last 10 years: they bought Hall Pottery, and then closed it. The restaurant ware division was sold off to a British concern, and HLC downsized to Fiestaware Table Ware Company, finally changing the back stamp.
