Description
The Daily National Intelligencer August 30th 1836 Newspaper Washington D.C.
Original Newspaper with the period notation in the upper right corner that it belonged to The Young Men’s Association.
Several noted insertions as expected being from the capital. There is a notice of reward for a runaway person who identifies himself as Adam by his owner Robert Meek of Washington County, Virginia. I have included a photo of this announcement in this listing.
There are a good number of reward postings in this newspaper for runaway slaves including notices to buy slaves of both sexes at a rate of 400 to 100 at a time.
Other postings include plantation real estate postings and canal building. This paper really is historically fascinating in every respect.
