Born in 1839 in Ohio. Reported in Mississippi (Civil War), and Illinois and Kentucky in the 1870s. Barr was a partner in Barr & Wright located in Houston from 1870-1880, and operated on his own in San Antonio beginning in 1881 until after 1900. Barr is listed as a photographer and owner of his own studio in San Antonio in the 1910 U.S. Population Census. By the 1920 Census, he is 80 years old and listed as the owner and proprietor of a studio in San Antonio.
