Description

General Store invoice from the Jacob H.Mork Store in Vicksburg,Mississippi for Julia Powell of the Mars Plantation near Dry Creek in Tippah County,Mississippi.

The invoice
does not state Mars Plantation, but Mrs. Powell was part of the Mars plantation. The invoice dated April 5th 1865 is quite lengthy with two complete pages meshed together at the edges. Mrs. Powell's buying spree comes to $480.15 which is roughly around $7,700.00 today. With goods and services being restored in Vicksburg after the ravages war,  hundreds flocked to this city for much needed supplies.

This "manuscript" would look stunning framed as it presents more like a Broadside than an invoice.
