Rare and fascinating photo album documenting an officer's experiences on the infamous HMCS Uganda, a Canadian warship (originally part of the Royal Navy). She sailed for Canada from 1944 to 1947. The album contains dozens of photos of the crew's activities throughout South America and up to San Diego, including visits to Rio di Janiero and some photos that seem to depict the scuttling of the Admiral Graf Spee, although this took place a few years before the HMCS Uganda was named. There are also a few pages containing some very rare South American and other paper currency including notes from Uruguay, Brasil, Trinidad and more, many of which were produced in the 1930s.
A handful of newer photos are also included that were taken when this seaman was a much older man. Condition as expected for a 75+ year old photo album; there is minor wear and tear.
