New Old Stock from liquidated drug store back rooms. Unopened signatures in light blue paper wraps with small chips missing from the bottom edge from storage. Fore edge and top edge toned, nicked Pages lightly toned.. V XI #7; staple bound, rusted.
The
books are "unopened", typical to publications from this era as issued. This means
the sheets of paper were printed and folded, drilled and sewn together
without cutting the folds. Some of them, of course, are at the spine.
Others are at the top or bottom of the book. Take care when separating
them. Sharp edges are not recommended as they are prone to going off
course an slitting the text block. A credit card or other similar devise
works fine.
The
Southern Historical Society was founded in 1870 by General Maubry, CSA
(ret) to preserve the heritage of the South and counter what they saw as
the falsified presentation of the Great Conflict by the Northern
States. Of course, this falsification continues in many circles in this
country today.
The spines are mostly present. The wraps are
chipped about the edges, which is typical of magazines of this era which
were bound in paper of the same weight as the rest of the book and
printed larger than the text block. We place each in a separate archival bag when
acquired.
