This antique filet knife is a beautiful piece of folk art that is sure to impress any collector. The knife features a unique handle made of agate, and is hand carved with the sacred cod, initials and and anchor. This vintage knife is perfect for those who appreciate the artistry of handmade items, and is sure to be a treasured addition to any collection. The knife is marked VR with a crown in the middle. From my research it dates to the Victorian era. Measures 10" full length and the blade is 6". The blade is very sharp.

The sacred cod is a four-foot-eleven-inch (150 cm) carved-wood effigy of an Atlantic Cod, "painted to the life", hanging in the House of representatives chamber of Boston's Massachusetts State House. A memorial of the importance of the cod fishery to the welfare of this Commonwealth of which cod is officially the historic and continuing symbol.
