Four, the fourth album by One Direction, generated two International hit singles (Steal My Girl and Night Changes). One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) are a British pop boy band based in London, comprised of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. They signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after forming and finishing third in the seventh season of the British TV singing competition The X Factor in 2010. In 2014, Billboard named One Direction the top artist of the year. Most of the songs on this album have been written by the group. Steal My Girl was the first official single from the album. The song's piano piece was similar to Journey's Faithfully. The song sounds reminiscent of 1980s music, something that the band emphasized on their previous studio album and pushed further on Four. The accompanying music video features appearances from Danny DeVito, a juvenile chimpanzee, sumo wrestlers, acrobats, and a marching band. Girl Almighty is a mixture of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Paul Simon, and pop that doesn't sound like anything else on the charts. Several tracks (Stockholm Syndrome, Fireproof) mix Fleetwood Mac-inspired vocal harmonies and sweetly slick '80s pop in a surprising new way, and a handful more continue the group's welcome fascination with '80s pop/rock. Four quickly rose to the top of the UK Albums Chart, with 142,000 copies sold during its first week. The album scored One Direction their third consecutive #1 album. Four became the top charted album on iTunes in some 67 countries. In the US, the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, with sales of 387,000. One Direction thus became the first musical group to have each of their first four studio albums debut at #1; the Monkees and the Kingston Trio also reached #1 with their first four albums but not in the first week of sales. Four sold 814,000 copies in the US in 2014.
