Cloisonne Teapot

Attributed to Namikawa Yasayuki

The diameter of the teapot is approx. 6". The height is about 3" - not including the handle.

The design work on this teapot is utterly spectacular!

The condition of the cloisonne is very good, I'm not finding any damage. Some surface wear should be expected from time and use. The only thing noted, aside from the handle situation (read below), is that where one of the prongs rises up from teapot to connect the handle, at the very base of this prong, where it attaches to the teapot, it looks like there is some kind of glaze/filler, and some of that is missing. The prong itself is fine and stable. See pics #7 & #9.

PLEASE NOTE: The Teapot is missing the Chrysanthemum hardware connectors to connect the handle. The teapot will come as shown, with the handle unattached. I had hoped to find something similar, living in a small town on the Oregon Coast makes this  difficult. I've looked on the internet with no luck. The last two pics above are of a similar teapot showing what the connectors would look like.

"Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927) was one of the most famous and brilliant Japanese cloisonné artists. 1886 he was awarded the honorary title of ‘Teishitsu Gigeiin’ (artist-craftsman to the imperial household)"
