DETAILS
Have you purchased a GM radio, similar one pictured, that is VIN locked to another vehicle and experienced sticker shock when the GM dealer told you how much it costs to unlock it for your vehicle? Is your sound system non-BOSE? If yes to both, you've come to the right place. Simply send it to us and you'll get it back with the previous VIN removed. We've got sophisticated, proprietary equipment which allows us to clear the VIN in your radio. That means you can pop it in your vehicle without it locking after we're done. If your radio doesn't look like one of them pictured, please drop us a message with the year and model of your GM vehicle. We can do a few others.*As long a you don't have the BOSE sound system and the radio did not come from a BOSE equipped vehicle, no dealer programming will be required, which should save you $100 or more. If you have BOSE or the radio you're sending is from a BOSE equipped vehicle, you might need additional programming from a GM dealer.***Some radios display a CAL ERR or CALIBRATION message on the screen for a few seconds upon starting the vehicle, after they have been VIN cleared. This message usually goes away after approximately 50 key cycles. Even if it does not go away, it is nothing to be alarmed about and, as mentioned, it disappears after a few seconds.**Make sure your vehicle is on the APPLICATIONS list that appears below and there is no BOSE system in your vehicle or the donor vehicle. Please also note that we have no control over compatibility of your donor radio. In other words, we can clear the VIN from the radio you send but, if you've chosen a radio from a vehicle that is not compatible in yours, clearing the VIN may not get you a working radio. There is more than one version of the data system in these vehicles and they are not interchangeable. Having both vehicles on the list below is NOT an indicator the radios are interchangeable. Please contact us BEFORE purchasing to get our opinion on whether you've got a radio you can use in your vehicle. We'll need the year and model of your vehicle and the part number off your donor radio. This is not a testing, rebuilding, or repair service for your radio. All we're doing is unlocking it. We don't have to open up your radio to clear the VIN, so we don't touch any of the internal components. The radio is merely connected to the test equipment on our bench. Should we happen to notice there are functional problems with your radio, they are completely outside our control. We offer many GM repairs and can usually give you options for repairing the problem but it is not included in the VIN clear process. We usually offer a discount on additional repairs though, since the radio is already here. Even if you've somehow tested your radio prior to shipment and don't think it has any problems, please note it is possible for problems to arise in shipping. We often get radios that have not been packaged well for the trip. Even if they have, it's not unheard of for filaments to break in bulbs or CD drives to get locked up because of particularly nasty jolts. Again, we have no control over it. That is one risk of sending a radio off to be VIN cleared rather than paying your dealer 3-4 times to do it as part of their programming process. The ad shows there is an extended handling time for this item. That's simply because we must account for the time it takes you to get the radio ready and the time it takes to get here. We are required to put a tracking number into the system within the handling time we put in the ad. If there is a delay in getting the radio to us (and/or shipping takes a few days getting it to us), we would get a defect for not shipping it back to you in time, even though the delay would have nothing to do with us. We do not hold your radio for 15 days. We complete repairs within 3 business days, as noted above. If you get your radio to us in a timely fashion, it will be returned by the estimated shipping date you see in the ad. If you do not get us your radio in a timely fashion, we reserve the right to cancel the order. We should not get a defect for a delay in getting the radio to us.
