Whimsey on Why is the name given to a mythical English village made up of a series of miniature porcelain houses and buildings so often found in a typical British Village. All models are decorated with intricate and colorful fired on transfers and each model bears its number in the series, enclosed in a circle, usually located at either the rear or on the corner of the miniature house. The transfer is applied to the walls of the houses with the colored roofs being attached separately. All models are mold marked on the base or in a recess on the base.
Wade made little buildings from 1984 till 1987. The Whimsey-on-Why village has a lot of pieces.
They made the Irish Village, Bally-Whim from 1984 till 1987. There is only the one set with eight pieces.
Irish Wade pottery was closed in the early 90s. The Wade potteries have all been owned by Beauford PLC since 1998. And has since close their doors forever.
