Antiquarian "Twilight Land" Howard Pyle, 1922 Harper Bros Edition, Fantastic Storytelling at its Best, Many Illustrations, Fine Condition. One of Howard Pyle's lesser known children's books: Per Pyle's introduction: "Where is Twilight Land? Ah! that I cannot tell you. You will either have to ask your mother or find it for yourself." This book interweaves 16 stand-alone tales of mystery and enchantment into a fabulously unified world filled with princes and demons, genies and sorceresses, as all the characters pitch in to wage the age-old battle between good and evil. Pyle was both a master storyteller and an artist who was admired by van Gogh, Parrish, Wyeth, and many more of his contemporaries (many of who he taught!), and each of these stories is illustrated with Pyle's original and much revered intricate line drawings. This issue is in excellent condition with a good tight spine and binding. The hardbound linen cover has the original full color dust jacket illustration affixed. The interior pages do show some aging and the cover has some shelf wear, but there are no odors, stains, tears or other blemishes.
