Rare find! Coin silver fiddleback style spoon by John L Gale (who signed his work I.L. Gale) and who is part of the famous New York Gale Silversmith family that ruled for most of the 1800s in the northeast. John was only in business from 1800-1837 and from 1800-1807 he was part of Hayden(Heyden) & Gale and from 1825-27 with William Gale.

This is a spoon signed only by him indicating it was probably done when he was on his own.  it is monogrammed with what appears to a be a "MW".

Spoon is 5.5 inches in length.  It is the only piece of flatware we can find by John Gale that is marked I.L. Gale.
