This Mancala board was made from a solid block of North American Cherry. Wood artist Paul Szewc of Guelph put his own flare on a traditional African game.
The cups are easy to scoop from and you can easily see how many gems are sitting in each cup during play. Each cup will hold 22 gems comfortably, which is deeper than standard boards available. (Gemstones included but may be a different color than pictured usually dark blue or lighter blue).
Dimensions: 24"L x 6W" x 1"D.
Cherry wood is renowned for its rich red-brown hues. When it has been freshly carved out the wood is a lighter colour but as it is exposed to air and sunlight the woods colour deepens to the rich red-brown hue cherry is known for. The lead picture is of a freshly made board and picture 2 is of a board that has had some time for the colour of the wood to settle. It is finished in Lacquer and is smooth to the touch, similar to wood furniture. Simply wipe with a damp cloth if it becomes dirty. It will last for many years to come.
There are machine marks which you can see but this is the look we wanted. It gives the board a textured, organic look, similar as to the boards played on hundreds of years ago. Made from solid pieces of cherry wood, each board will be of a slightly different shade of the red-brown of cherry and will have it's own unique grain pattern. The playing gems are included with the board and the rules have been laser engraved on the back for handy reference.
This solid board will outlast you! It is another heirloom game to be passed down to future generations.

As wood is a natural living product it can be a little unruly; knots, streaking, other blemishes and flaws in the grain can occur during the natural growth of the tree. These may be present in all our products to some degree but we do control for anything that will seriously interfere with the use or look of our items. We at Masterpiece Lasered Wood, the home of the famous "Wonky" furniture design believe these imperfections add a uniqueness to our products and LOVE us some rebellious wood grain or an interesting knot here or there that doesn't interfere with the use of the item.
