Streptocarpus variety DS 1112, common name Cape Primrose, is a live, rooted plant growing in a 2.5" wide by 2.5" deep pot. Flower buds may or may not be present on your young plant.

Streptocarpus are close relatives to the African Violet in the Gesneriad family. Plant size can vary with each variety, but generally can reach 12 inches high by 18 inches wide. Leaf size and length varies from plant to plant. Suitable for indoor pots and hanging baskets in an eastern exposure. They can bloom year round with strong growth under fluorescent lighting for 15 hours a day. Use a light, porous potting mix and allow plants to dry down between waterings. Wet soil will cause plants to rot. Feed regularly using a well balanced fertilizer with every watering. Ideal temperature is 65 to 75 degrees with a minimum of 50 degrees. They do not like it too hot.

DS 1112 has creamy upper lobes edged in purple with yellow lower lobes backed with purple. Very showy clusters of flowers with ruffled frilly edges.
